ChemIllusion for Microsoft 365
Editable chemistry for Word and PowerPoint: chemical structures, Newman projections, 3D models and reaction-coordinate diagrams that stay editable in your document. Free deterministic chemistry — no AI, no payment. Sign in with your ChemIllusion account or register with just your email.
This page is the add-in’s home
Word and PowerPoint load the ChemIllusion panel from this site. You don’t need to visit it to use the add-in; once it’s installed, open Home → Chemistry in Word or PowerPoint.
Install (preview)
Until ChemIllusion is listed in the Microsoft Marketplace, add it from its manifest file:
Download the add-in manifest- Word or PowerPoint on the web: Insert → Add-ins → My Add-ins → Upload My Add-in, then choose the downloaded file.
- Windows or Mac desktop: ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to deploy it under Integrated apps, or sideload it for testing.
Needs Microsoft 365 (Word with WordApi 1.4, PowerPoint with PowerPointApi 1.8).
Privacy
- Your document is not uploaded. Structures are drawn in the panel itself.
- Only these things ever leave the panel, and only when you choose them:
- the structure or settings you enter for a Newman projection, reaction-coordinate diagram, 3D model, sugar projection or orbital diagram;
- a structure you send with Open in MyMol, which is encrypted in the panel first, so ChemIllusion stores only ciphertext and the key stays in your link;
- a ChemDraw file you pick in Import ChemDraw file, which ChemIllusion reads and does not keep;
- the structure you choose to save with Download .cdxml, which ChemIllusion converts and does not keep.
- The panel can open your own saved MyMol molecules, and a MyMol link’s encrypted contents, which it decrypts itself; the key in the link never leaves the panel.
- The panel never reads a picture, file or embedded object out of your document to send it.
- The panel counts what you do, such as which kind of figure you inserted, but never sends what is in it.
- Your email is used for your ChemIllusion account — no newsletter unless you tick the box when you sign in.
